We Aren?t Simply Improving

When Jesus saves us he does far more than deliver us from the guilt and power of sin, as wonderful as that is.

He does far more than adopt us as his children. ?He goes far beyond causing us to walk in holiness. ?He literally transforms us into his own glorious image.

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

This is God?s goal for our lives – to take us from one degree of the glory of Christ to another until we are completely conformed to that glory. ?This is incredible. ?We?re not simply improving. ?We?re not simply becoming nicer people. ?Or more productive. We?re not simply becoming servants, or learning to use our time more wisely. ?We are literally being transformed into the very glorious image of Christ.

How does this happen? ?As we behold the glory of the Lord.

As we look upon Christ in his Word. ?As we see his glory by faith when we worship together and fellowship together. ?When we behold his glory being formed in our brothers and sisters. ?As we behold the glory of Jesus in prayer and meditation.

While we are beholding, the Holy Spirit is transforming. ?We behold. ?The Spirit transforms.

Be encouraged today. ?God is doing an unbelievable work in your life.? You may not perceive it, but it?s happening by degrees – from one degree of glory to another.? In the midst of all that swirls around you, keep beholding the glory of Jesus.? Because that?s where the Lord is taking you.
