God Moved Me From Oklahoma…Because My Times Are In His Hand

My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors! (Psalm 31:15)

Our ?times? are in God?s hand. ?Our times of sorrow, our times of joy. ?Our times of success and times of failure. ?Our time to hear the gospel. ?Our time to be saved. ?Our time to go to school and our time to get a job. ?Our time to retire. ?Our time to suffer and our time to enjoy health.

God has a perfect timing for everything in our lives. ?I was born and raised in Oklahoma, then one day at age 14 my Dad told us he?d been transferred to Indiana, PA. ?I didn?t know it, but God?s sovereign plan was unfolding for my life. ?If I had never moved here I might never have been saved or met my wife, become a pastor, or had my children and grandchildren. ?But my times were and still are in God?s hand.

God also has a perfect timing for every affliction in our lives. ?He knows exact time it will begin and the exact moment it will end. ?Our sufferings can?t go one second longer than God determines. ?And they can?t be a single degree worse than he allows. ?God has a perfect time for you to be rescued from your trial. ?He knows the exact day, hour and minute. ?Your times are in his hand.

God numbers our days before we are born and knows each one of them. ?God planned the day you would be born and he knows the day he will bring you home. ?Nothing takes him by surprise. ?Nothing happens to us that he hasn?t accounted for. ?If something happens, it?s because it?s God?s time for it to happen. ?Today is in God?s hand.

Not only are our times in God?s hand, but his hand is gracious. ?He has promised to never cease doing good to us. ?His mercies are new every morning. ?Great is his faithfulness. ?In all our times, he is gracious. ?In our times of prosperity, God is gracious. ?Yet he is also gracious when we are suffering and it feels like nothing good is happening.

God knew exactly when Jesus would be born – in the fullness of time. ?At the perfect time in history, Jesus entered the world. ?Jesus came into the world when Rome was in power, when Rome crucified people, and at the time of his choosing, he gave up his life on a cross rescue us. ?On the third day, in his perfect timing, he rose from the dead. ?And someday, in his perfect timing, on the exact day and at the exact minute, he will give a shout, and descend from heaven with clouds of glory and armies of angels.

Today is in God?s hand. ?Whatever happens to you today will not be a surprise to God. ?Your times are in his hand. ?He has your day planned out. ?He has blessings lined up for you today. ?He has abundant love stored up for you, that he?s just waiting for the perfect time to shower on you. ?

O Lord, my times are in your hand. ?Praise you that you are sovereign, loving, good and wise. ?Thank you that you have plans for blessing in my life. ?Thank you that you will fulfill your purposes for me.

I’m a pastor at Saving Grace Church in Indiana, PA. I’m married to Kristi, have 5 kids, and a growing number of grandkids. I enjoy songwriting, oil painting and coffee, not necessarily in that order.
