What Is God’s Power?

God’s power is the source of all creation, sustaining everything in existence. God’s power is manifested through divine intervention, miracles, and guidance to bring healing, comfort, hope, peace, and joy into our lives.

God’s power can be seen throughout the Bible, and in the lives of those who follow Him. God’s power is seen through His miraculous works, such as walking on water, healing the sick and restoring sight to the blind. Through Jesus’ death on the cross, He paid for our sins and showed us a way back to Him.

What Does The Bible Say About God’s Power?

God Has All Power

The Bible tells us that God is all powerful (omnipotent), meaning He can do anything. The Bible says in Psalms 62:11, “Power belongs to God.” This means that God has the power to accomplish anything that He desires and no one or nothing can stop Him.

There is nothing in the universe more powerful than God. Nothing in the universe can limit God’s power. He is in total control of all things and His power cannot be denied or questioned. Satan is not more powerful than God. Nothing in creation, like hurricane’s or tornadoes, is more powerful than God.

The Bible points to God’s power in countless ways. For example, Isaiah 40:28 says, “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.” This scripture is a reminder that even though God’s power is incomprehensible, He has the power to create and sustain all of creation.

In Psalm 33:6 it says, “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.” This demonstrates God’s power to create something as majestic and powerful as the universe.

We See God’s Power In Creation

God’s power is also seen in the natural world. The creation of stars, planets, galaxies and life itself shows us that God has an amazing power. In Psalm 19:1 it says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” All creation testifies to God’s power and supremacy.

In Romans 1:20 it says, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” This scripture reminds us that all of creation speaks to God’s power and that everyone can see it.

It Is Unfathomable

The Bible tells us that God’s power is unfathomable. In Jeremiah 32:17 it says, “Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.” Nothing is too difficult for God to do and He can do anything. Whatever God wants to do, He has the power to do it.

God’s power is so great that nothing can stand in His way or limit Him in any way. We may not understand all of His ways, but we know that God’s power is greater than anything else in the universe and He can do anything He wants.

In Job 42:2 it says, “I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.” This scripture shows us that God’s power and plans cannot be stopped by anyone or anything. God’s power is infinite and can never be contained.

He Uses It To Protect Us

The Bible tells us that God uses His power to protect us in times of trouble and danger. In Psalm 46:1 it says, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” God has the power to keep us safe from harm and He will always be there for us when we need Him. We do not need to fear. We do not need to worry. God is using His infinite power to protect us.

We don’t need to be scared of even the worst things, like natural disasters. In Psalm 46:2 it says, “Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea.” No matter what happens to the physical world, God is still in control and His power never waivers.

God’s Power Is Unstoppable

God’s power is unstoppable and incomparable. In Revelation 19:6 it says, “Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: ‘Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.’” This shows us that no one can stand in God’s way and that His unending power will prevail. He reigns over all things. He is the King of Kings.

Think of the greatest forces in nature. Think of the most powerful human being. No matter what, God’s power is greater than any force in the universe. He has been sustaining and protecting creation from the beginning of time and will continue to do so for eternity.

God Is Sovereign

When we say God is sovereign, we mean that He is all-powerful and in control of everything. We see His sovereignty in the ways He interacts with us. In John 14:27 it says, Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

God’s peace is unlike anything the world can offer. He is in control and His power gives us comfort and security, no matter what we are facing.

God’s power is a source of hope, strength, and joy for us. In Isaiah 40:28-29 it says, “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

No matter how tired or weak we feel, we can always turn to God for strength and power. His unending power will never fail us and it is a source of hope and joy that we can cling to in times of difficulty.

God Uses His Power To Bless Us

God has the power to provide us with blessings too. In Psalm 145:16 it says, “You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.” This shows us that God uses His power to give us exactly what we need, when we need it. He knows our deepest needs and wants and will use His power to provide for us.

God’s power is great, and He uses it to bless us with countless gifts. We can always trust in Him and His power, no matter what. He is our refuge and strength in times of trouble and He will never fail us. He has the power to protect us, provide for us, and give us peace and joy. We can be sure that His power will never waver and we can trust in Him always.

God’s Power Is In Us Through Jesus

Most importantly, God’s power is in us through Jesus. In Ephesians 3:20 it says, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” This tells us that God has given us the Holy Spirit and through Him, God’s power lives in us.

We can always rely on the Holy Spirit to give us strength, comfort, and hope. No matter how hard things get or how weak we feel, we can always turn to God for help. His power is within us and He is a never-ending source of love and hope.

Bible Verses About God’s Power

Psalm 29:4 – “The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.”

Romans 9:17 – “For in the Gospel, it is written: ‘The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.’”

2 Corinthians 12:9 – “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Matthew 28:18 – “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.’”

Hebrews 1:3 – “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.”

Psalm 62:7 – “My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.”

Isaiah 40:29 – “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

Romans 8:38-39 – “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

  1. I appreciate you sharing this content. These days, peace is a hard place to find. That must have been spoken at some point in all human history. In my life, I’ve come to realize that trusting God and feeling at peace with the future are two different things than being at peace and believing in God right now.
