What Is The Armor Of God?

The armor of God comes from Ephesians 6:13-17, which says:

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

The armor of God prayer is praying through each aspect listed in the above verses. It is a powerful way to put on the armor of God and stand firm against the enemy.

Prayer For The Belt Of Truth

Dear Lord,

I put on the belt of truth, knowing that You are truth and Your Word is truth. Help me to live by the standards set out in Your Word and not be swayed by the lies of this world. Please give me discernment to recognize untruths when I hear them.

In Psalm 119:105 you say, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Help me to walk in the truth of Your Word and that it may be a light unto others. Help me to live with integrity in all areas of my life and speak only truth.

Help me to hold fast to the truth even when it is difficult. Help me to see the beauty of your truth above all other things, and not be swayed by the lies of this world.

Prayer For The Breastplate Of Righteousness

Dear Lord,

I put on the breastplate of righteousness. I thank you for giving me righteousness through Your Son Jesus Christ and making me right with You. Help me to live a life of holiness and righteousness, so that I may honor you in all things.

In James 4:7 you say, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Help me to submit my life to You and resist the devil’s lies and deceit.

Help me to stand firm in righteousness and not be fooled by sin or lured away by its promises of pleasure.

Help me to stand firm against the enemies attacks in areas such as lust, pride, and anger. May my heart be filled with goodness and kindness towards others.

Give me a sense of responsibility for my actions before You. Help me to recognize when I am wrong so that I can repent and turn back to You.

Prayer For The Shoes Of Readiness

Dear Lord,

I put on the shoes of readiness and thank You for equipping me with Your Holy Spirit. May my feet be swift in doing Your will in all circumstances. Help me to show a readiness to follow Your lead and live as an example of You.

In Isaiah 52:7 You say, “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation.” Help me to be a messenger of Your truth and peace.

Help me to ready my heart for any opportunity you provide for me to share Your love and grace with the world.

Help me to not be distracted by anxiety or fear, but instead prepare my feet for whatever assignment You have for me.

Help me to be prepared for any situation the world throws at me. May my heart be filled with courage when I am faced with difficult circumstances, knowing that I have Your power within me to help me stand firm.

Enable me to always carry out Your will, no matter how hard or uncomfortable it may be. Help me to take a stand for what is right and never give up in the face of opposition.

Prayer For The Shield Of Faith

Dear Lord,

I take up the shield of faith and thank You for Your promises in my life. Help me to stand firm in my faith, even when the world seems against me. Give me strength to reject lies and doubts that come from the enemy.

In Psalm 28:7 You say, “The Lord is my strength and shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to Him in song.” Help me to trust that Your strength and wisdom is enough for all of life’s battles.

May I be brave enough to keep believing in You, no matter how difficult life may become. Help me to see You as my protector and trust in Your promises. Let only what is true penetrate my heart and mind, so that I can stay rooted in faith.

Give me an unwavering faith to face life’s struggles with strength and joy. Help me to persevere in You through words of encouragement and prayer.

Prayer For The Helmet Of Salvation

Dear Lord,

I put on the helmet of salvation and thank You for rescuing me from my sins. May my mind be guarded against evil thoughts and temptations. Help me to focus only on Your will and reject any lies that come from enemy.

In Isaiah 59:17 You say, “He put on righteousness as his breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on his head; he put on the garments of vengeance and wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak.” Help me to be strong in faith and accept Your plan for my life. Keep me from falling into temptation and help me live a life pleasing to You.

Let my heart be filled with gratitude knowing You have saved me because of Your great love for me. Protect my mind from any false teachings and help me to keep growing in knowledge. May I become more and more like You as I continue my journey with You.

Give me courage to live out Your salvation, and may others see the hope that You have given me. Help me to shine the light of Your salvation to all those around me so that they too will be saved through Christ.

Prayer For Sword of the Spirit

Dear Lord,

I take the sword of the Spirit and thank You for Your Word. May I never forget that the Bible is my source of strength in all situations. Help me to speak truth in love and keep away from any deceptions.

In Hebrews 4:12 You say, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Help me to use Your Word to fight against temptations and remain strong in faith.

Give me courage to stand firm against any false teachings or words that do not come from You. Help me to use Your Words to encourage and edify those around me. May I draw my hope from You, and not be fooled by the lies of the enemy.

Help me to never forget that You have given me Your Spirit so I can stand firm in faith and trust in Your promises. Thank You for always being there for me, even when I don’t understand why things happen.

Closing Prayer

Dear Lord,

Thank You for the armor of God that You have given us to protect us from any harm. May we wear it faithfully and never forget Your promises of protection. Help us to stay alert and put our trust completely in You. We are grateful for the protection You provide and will never cease to thank You.
