What is God’s grace?

God’s grace is His unmerited favor. It’s a gift from God that we don’t deserve. His grace is what saved us from our sin when we put our faith in Jesus Christ. There is nothing we can do to earn grace.

As it says in Ephesians 2:8-9: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”

This means that our salvation is not based on anything we have done. It’s not a result of works or anything we do. It’s all because of God’s grace. It is the free favor of God that is a gift. We cannot boast about our salvation or the things God has done in us and through and for us. We can only receive His grace as a gift.

Here’s an acronym that provides a simple definition of grace:

G – God’s

R – Riches

C – Christ’s

E – Expense

Grace comes from God. It’s His riches, given to us at Christ’s expense. In other words, it cost Jesus His life to give us grace. And that’s why we can never take it for granted.

The grace of the Lord goes hand in hand with the concept of justification. This is the act of God by which He pardons sinners and accepts them as righteous. Our standing with God is as righteous and without sin.

Grace is also connected with sanctification, which is the process by which we become more Christ-like. As we grow in grace, we are transformed into His image. Grace frees us from the power of sin.

All of this is possible because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. His sacrifice made it possible for us to have a personal relationship with God. And His grace gives us everything we need to live a godly life.

Why is God’s grace so important?

God’s grace is important because it’s what saves us from our sin. As sinners, we deserve God’s wrath and punishment. But because of His grace, He sent Jesus to die in our place. Jesus took the punishment we deserve, and His grace is what covers us and saves us.

It’s also important because it’s what gives us a new life. When we receive God’s grace, He changes our hearts and gives us a new desire to live for Him. We are born again and become new creations in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). We have a new purpose and meaning in life.

How can I receive God’s grace?

The best way to receive God’s grace is to simply ask for it. Admit that you are a sinner and need Jesus to save you. Ask Him to forgive you and come into your life. When you do, He will pour out His grace on you and give you a new life.

Grace comes through Jesus Christ alone. There is no other way to receive it. As it says in Acts 4:12: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name given under heaven by which we must be saved.”

If you have never asked Jesus to save you, now is the time. Don’t wait another day to receive His grace. He is waiting to pour it out on you right now.

What’s The Difference Between Mercy and Grace?

Both mercy and grace are gifts from God that we don’t deserve. But there is a difference between them.

Mercy is when God withholds the punishment we deserve. It’s His compassion and kindness shown to us in our time of need.

Grace is when God gives us something good that we don’t deserve. It’s His unmerited favor and blessing.

For example, mercy would be shown to a criminal who is about to be executed. A judge might have mercy on him and spare his life. But that doesn’t mean the criminal is innocent. He still deserves punishment.

Grace, on the other hand, would be shown to a criminal who is pardoned and set free, even though he deserves to be punished. He is given a new life, even though he doesn’t deserve it.

God shows both mercy and grace to us. He has mercy on us when we sin and withholds the punishment we deserve. And He shows grace to us by giving us His Son, Jesus Christ.

When we receive Jesus, we receive forgiveness and eternal life. We are given a new start, even though we don’t deserve it. That’s the amazing grace of God.

Examples of Grace In The Bible

Noah

Noah is a great example of God’s grace. Noah was a righteous man who lived in a wicked world. Because of his faith, Noah obeyed God and built an ark to save himself and his family from the coming flood.

When the flood came, Noah and his family were safe in the ark. But the rest of the world was destroyed. Only Noah and his family were spared because of God’s grace.

Abraham

Another example of God’s grace is Abraham. Abraham was a sinful man, but he put his faith in God. Because of his faith, Abraham obeyed God and went to the land He promised him, even though he didn’t know where he was going.

When Abraham got there, he built an altar to worship God. Because of his faith and obedience, God blessed Abraham and made him into a great nation. Abraham is a great example of how God can use sinfulness and turn it into something good because of His grace.

Moses

Moses is another example of God’s grace. Moses was a murderer, but he turned from his sin and obeyed God. Because of his obedience, God used Moses to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt.

God also gave Moses the Ten Commandments to give to His people. And because of Moses’ faithfulness, God was able to work miracles through him. For example, God used Moses to part the Red Sea so the Israelites could cross over on dry land.

David

David is another great example of God’s grace. David was a man after God’s own heart, but he was also a sinner. He committed adultery and murder, but he repented of his sin and sought God’s forgiveness.

Because of David’s faithfulness, God used him to write many of the Psalms. And because of his obedience, God made him into a great king.

Jonah

Jonah is a final example of God’s grace. Jonah was a prophet who was disobedient to God. He ran from God instead of doing what he was called to do.

But even though Jonah was disobedient, God still loved him and had a plan for his life. He used Jonah to preach to the people of Nineveh and bring them to repentance. And even though Jonah didn’t want to do it, he was obedient and did it anyway.

These are just a few examples of how the grace God gives. No matter what we have done, no matter how far we have run from God, His grace is always there for us. All we need to do is repent of our sin and turn to Him. And He will pour out His grace on us and forgive us. We just need to ask.

Bible Verses About God’s Grace

“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” (Ephesians 2:4-5)

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8)

So how can you live a life full of God’s grace? Here are some practical suggestions:

1) Read the Bible

This is where you will learn about God’s character and His grace. The Bible is the story of God’s grace shown to undeserving sinners. As you read, meditate on the verses about grace and ask God to show you how to apply them to your life.

2) Pray

Prayer To Receive God’s Grace

Dear Lord,

I thank You for Your grace. I know that I don’t deserve it, but I am so grateful for it. I ask You to help me to live a life full of grace. Help me to love others and serve them. And help me to witness to them about Jesus Christ. I pray that they will see Your grace in my life and be drawn to You. I ask all these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
