Is God Good? Finding Hope At All Times

All of us, at one point or another, have found ourselves wondering, Is God good? Why does he allow bad things to happen to good people? If he’s all-powerful, can’t he just stop the pain and suffering?

These are tough questions, but they’re important ones. After all, if we can’t trust that God is good, what hope do we have?

Is God Good?

Yes, the Bible makes it very clear that God is a good God all the time. Even when life is hard, we can say that God is good.

For example, in Psalm145:9, it says, “The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.” This means that no matter who we are or what we’ve done, God is always good to us. He is merciful and compassionate, and he wants to help us.

In addition, in Psalm 100:5, it says, “For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” This means that no matter what happens, God will always be there for us. His love is never-ending, and he will always keep his promises.

So when life is tough and we’re questioning everything, we can hold on to the truth that God is good. He will never leave us or forsake us, and he will always be with us through the good times and the bad.

In James it says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

This means that God is good and is the source of all good things. He is the one who blesses us with good gifts, and he never changes. He is always good, even when life isn’t.

Scriptures About God Is Good

There are numerous scriptures that tell us that God is good. For in example, in 1 John we learn that God is love: “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love” (1 John 4:8). God’s character and nature are love and everything that God does flows out of that love.

In Psalm 119:68 we read, “You are good, and what you do is good;” and in Nahum 1:7 we are told that “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He protects those who trust in him.”

Some other verses that remind us of God’s goodness include:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His love endures forever” (Psalm 118:1).

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him” (Psalm 34:8).

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:1-2)

As we can see from these scriptures, and many others, God is good no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in. We can always trust in his goodness and know that he will work everything out for our good.

Is It True That God Is Good To Us All the Time?

Yes, God is good to us all the time. Even when life is hard, he is always there for us. His love is never-ending, and he will always keep his promises. So when things are tough and we’re questioning everything, we can hold on to the truth that God is good.

As it says in Psalm 100:5, “For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” No matter what happens, we can always trust that God is good and he will never leave us or forsake us. We can take refuge in him, knowing that he will always be with us and will work everything out for our good.

If God Is Good, Why Is Life Hard?

This is a question that has puzzled believers and non-believers alike for centuries. If God is good, why does he allow bad things to happen to good people?

There are a few possible answers to this question.

This life is not our final destination

We are only passing through on our way to heaven. So while life may be hard at times, it’s only temporary. As it says in the Bible, “This world is not our home; we are looking forward to our heavenly city” (Hebrews 13:14).

God uses even the bad things that happen to us for our good

Romans 8:28 reminds us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” So even when life is tough, we can trust that God is working everything out for our good.

This life is not about us

It’s about glorifying God and sharing his love with others. As it says in 2 Corinthians 4:17, “Our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” So even though life may be hard at times, we can take comfort in knowing that our trials are helping to achieve God’s purposes.

Sometimes bad things happen because of the choices we make

We live in a fallen world, and we’re not perfect. So even if we try to do everything right, we will still make mistakes. And sometimes those mistakes can have serious consequences.

God knows we need to depend on him

When everything is going well, it’s easy to forget about God. But when life is hard, we are reminded that we need him. And when we turn to him in our time of need, he is always there for us.

So even though we may not always understand why bad things happen, we can trust that God is good and that he has a plan for us. He will never leave us or forsake us, and he will use even the bad things that happen to us for our good.

Benefits of God’s Goodness

The scriptures tell us that there are so many benefits to God’s goodness.

First, when we trust in God’s goodness, we will never be disappointed. As it says in Psalm 25:3, “No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame.” If we hope in God, we will never be disappointed because he is always faithful to his promises.

Second, it help us find strength in our times of trouble. As it says in Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” When we trust in God, he will give us the strength we need to get through whatever life throws our way.

Third, the abounding goodness of God leads us to eternal life. As it says in Psalm 36:9, “For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.” When we trust in God and follow his ways, he will lead us to salvation and life with him in eternity.

Fourth, the Lord’s goodness gives us hope in the midst of trials and tribulations. As it says in Lamentations 3:22-23, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” No matter how difficult our circumstances may be, we can always find hope in the fact that God’s good.

Finally, the Lord’s goodness is a source of joy and happiness. As it says in Psalm 16:11, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” When we focus on God’s goodness, we will be filled with joy and happiness.

So if you are struggling today and wondering if God is good, remember that he is always faithful to his promises. He will never leave you or forsake you, and he will use even the bad things that happen to you for your good. Focus on the benefits of his goodness, and you will find strength, hope, joy, and happiness in him.

Why Is God Good to Us?

God is always good to us because He Himself is good. He cannot do anything that is not good and everything He does for us and to us is good. His very nature is good and He wants what is best for us.

In addition, we see throughout scripture that God is good to us because of His great love for us. As it says in 1 John 4:8, “God is love.” He loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins so that we could have eternal life.

And because of His great love for us, He is always faithful to His promises. As it says in Hebrews 10:23, “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” So even when life is hard and we don’t understand what is going on, we can trust that God is good and He has a plan for us.
